Dr. Clark Bowden grew up in Calgary, AB where he attended the University of Calgary Biological Sciences. He received his Doctorate degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA. Dr. Bowden’s clinical rotations included Pediatric Optometry at the New England Eye Commonwealth where he received training in Children specific conditions. He also worked in the Veterans Hospital System of Boston where he gained a broad experience with ocular disease treatment and management. Dr. Bowden also worked as the optometrist for a busy homeless shelter in Boston.
Dr. Bowden is certified in Orthokeratology or Overnight Vision Correction. He routinely attends national conferences and courses in new research. He is driven to treat near-nearsightedness in the pediatric population through the orthokeratology procedure.
Dr. Bowden was awarded the “Clinical Excellence in the Field Contact Lens Award” in 2007. He enjoys the challenge and gratification from successfully fitting the “hard to fit” patients with contact lenses, whether it’s Keratoconnus, or high astigmatism. He is certified in Scleral Contact lenses and Synergeyes Hybrid Lens fittings (hard and soft lenses hybrid).
Dr. Bowden is also a member of the National Glaucoma Society, the Optometric Retina Society and the Optometric Nutrition Society.
Dr. Bowden feels great gratification in caring for the eye health and vision of his patients and their families. He and his wife Jill moved to British Columbia in 2008 and have enjoyed becoming a member of this great community. They have two beautiful boys who love mountain biking, skiing and keeping their parents very busy.
