Dr. Sydney Davidson was born and raised in Moncton, New Brunswick. She completed her undergraduate degree at Dalhousie University (Nova Scotia) with a double major in Neuroscience and Philosophy, and graduated with Honours from University of Waterloo with her Doctorate of Optometry. Her optometric experience includes 4 months working in the Ophthalmology department at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, externships at 2 Ophthalmology clinics and 2 Binocular Vision clinics in BC, experience with an ocularist regarding assessment and recommendations for artificial eyes, as well as various rotations in Ocular Disease, Geriatrics, Pediatrics, Low Vision, Binocular Vision and Contact Lens within the UW clinic.
Dr. Davidson is an avid traveler, having explored more than 20 countries across the globe, and living in Asia for 2 years between her degrees. She has traveled within the eye care world through I Care International humanitarian missions to Mexico and Honduras, and spent 3 weeks working at the Foundation for International Self Help and Development (FISH) in Jamaica. She has also volunteered with the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB).
Dr. Davidson has received scholarships from the New Brunswick Association of Optometry, and has already completed 3 continuing education courses: Vestibular Processing (2013), Glaucoma Rounds (2013) and Principles and Procedures of Vision Therapy (2012) with the COVD.
Beyond Optometry, Dr. Davidson is currently undergoing her yoga teacher training and is passionate about nutrition and wellness, building relationships and spending time in nature.
